Last week French winemakers in the southern French region of Languedoc-Roussillon intercepted and emptied several tanker trucks filled with Spanish wine destined for France in a move of protest over the competition from Spanish winemakers on the French market. Obviously this violates the rules of free trade under the European Union. However, French authorities seemed to turn a blind eye to the action, and no arrests were made. Now, representatives from the two governments are meeting to discuss the spat.
